I was watching Minnesota Vikings videos on Vikings.com and stumbled upon an interview with Fran Tarkenton. His comments about Christian Ponder indicate that the rookie is the “Real Deal” and he mentions a easy solution for building a new Vikings stadium too.
The Vikings quarterback from the Purple People era also mentioned that he had started a new Fantasy Football site called FantasyFran.com. I just had to find out what his take on Fantasy Football would be.
The interview inspired me to join this new site for free, and it even offered the chance for winning an autographed jersey for being one of the first 500 to sign up. Fran Tarkenton was my boyhood hero. I remember watching the Hall of Fame quarterback scramble around the gridiron every Sunday while growing up on the farm in South Dakota. He doesn’t disappoint, providing insightful perspective on players in today’s NFL with an old school eye for the game. I plan on heeding is advice for my 6-6 team as blindly flounder may way back into playoff contention. I even posted the following comment:
“Absolutely dig seeing the Tark doing Fantasy football analysis, bridging the gap from old school to new school NFL. Tark you were my hero when I grew up in So Dak, and attended my first ever Viking game (Playoffs vs Redskins in ’76) wearing my #10 jersey. Thanks for setting up this site and providing your opinions on the NFL of today. Great to see. As a Vikings fan, it would be great to see you in Minnesota for few games from time to time. The organization needs their heart and soul Hall of Famer to come home more.”

Are you kidding? I am honored that Mr. Tarkenton would comment on my humble Tailgating website. Thank you for stopping by. Ponder had a tough game last week, but I am 100% that is was his hip injury that held him up in that game. He just didn’t seem to have the normal zip on his passes. I can’t wait to see if the Vikings will pick the next Ron Yary in next year’s draft. It’d be fun to hear what your thoughts are what position they should draft to improve the team.
