It was a grind, but the Minnesota Vikings made it back-to-back wins inside the division to start the season with a 9-3 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 2. Next up the Vikings stay on the road as they head to Raymond James Stadium to take on the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Know Your Enemy: Week […]
During the summer months, I asked safety Josh Metellus about the growth from Jay Ward. Optimism was the overwhelming takeaway, as is sometimes the case in June. September has brought a harsh reality: the 4th-year Vikings defender isn’t playing. Earlier in the week, Vikings DC Brian Flores took on a question about Ward’s playing time, […]
In Week 1, the Vikings’ 1st-Round selection wasn’t very good. Or, perhaps, things could be put in more glib terms: Caleb Banks played poor football. The effort in Week 2 was noticeably different. Banks didn’t start. What he did do is get featured as a key part of the overall defensive effort. Part of the […]
On Sunday, rookie punter Brett Thorson had a busy day. The undrafted specialist performed well, proving pivotal in the field position battle from within a 9-3 game that pushed Minnesota to a pristine 2-0 record. ESPN’s Kevin Seifert was among those to send along word that the Vikings conducted a workout for some punters. Thorson […]
Maybe the running back depth isn’t formidable enough. Not with Jordan Mason on the IR and Aaron Jones coming off a hearty workload from within a bruising NFC North showdown. So, the Vikings’ skipper thinks that there could be some need of more help. Kevin O’Connell took some time for the media yesterday. The question […]
The Carson Wentz experience — great band name, for the record — is going to be put on the shelf. He’ll slide down into being the QB2 yet again due to the Vikings getting the coveted injury update. QB1 Kyler Murray has cleared the concussion protocol, something that Kevin O’Connell confirmed to the media earlier […]
Once again, Dallas Turner put together a sensational effort. Seeing the edge rusher offer elite performances in consecutive Sundays has been instrumental in seeing the Vikings get to 2-0. So, what gives on that PFF assessment? For a little while, people have been expressing concern about where PFF is going. At no point has the […]
CB2 Isaiah Rodgers is known for speed. Not even the bog that was Soldier Field’s grass could slow him down. Kevin O’Connell chatted with the media following the game. As expected, the unusually optimistic head coach was his usual upbeat self. Part of that praise involved kicking over praise to Rodgers for still being fast […]
After a 1-0 start to the season, the Minnesota Vikings headed to Soldier Field with the difficult task of slowing down a Chicago Bears offense that scored 59 points in Week 1. While they were assisted by some rain, the Vikings more than accomplished that goal, inking a 9-3 final score into the W column. […]
To be clear, the Vikings’ playoff outlook is still in its infancy. What’s nevertheless true: a win in September counts just as much as a win in December. Minnesota will therefore be counting ’em up with the aim of having enough to qualify for the tournament to end the NFL season. At 1-0 and on […]
